Early start

oil on panel 12x6"

very early,cold and frosty,
i got up for fun,the farmer had to work,
still we both thought the morning was beautiful.
this was done on a panel rene had left behind...
it even looks like he could have painted this,
don't you think?

No Rob, it doesn't look like one of Rene's (despite my total admiration for the master). Although there are a few similarities (you both like grey tones) your own distinctive style comes through here. It's a smashing little painting!
By the way, did you change your blog template? I like this one better.

i thought, sheila, because of the cold cool grey/blue morning colors
and big foreground it looked like rene's
normally i use more colors and less grey...anyway glad to hear i've got my own style..

just changed the background colors and moved the side bar.glad you like it,thanks!

I like this one Rob! It definitely feels like a cold, frosty morning. The long vertical format is a different one for you and it works very well for this painting.

The colors depict a cool, brisk atmosphere. Love the way the road leads the eye right to the focal point.

I love this little gem of a painting. Makes me feel so cold! Colour, composition, format all work so well. Very clever.

My wife found your other blogs and told me to see them. Where do you live in Wales? We visited in 1990 and stayed in Llanberis. We were there during the summer and it seemed much warmer than this picture looks.
