first cuckoo

oil on canvas 7x9"

the guy coming over the fence couldn't wait
to tell me he heard his first cuckoo,
two days before last years,
i was happy he gave me a simple title for this little painting...
i was going to call it after the place,
gwarchodfa graig cerrig gleisiad a fan frynych
.

Love th wya you leave the underpainting to create highlights. Great recession and feeling of light. Thanks to the wall climber who saved us from your intended title.

LOL. Wonderful title, and I'm chuckling at Mick Carney's post. I love the quality of the light in your painting, too, and the play of warmth across the distant hills.

I'll say what the others have said Rob, great light in this one.
Love the spring colors in all of these recent paintings.
That is the best story about coming up with a title that I have heard in a while.
