Railway Carriage

oil on panel 6x9"

some farmers here in Wales use old railway carriages as sheds,
this fallen down forgotten one looks strange on top of the hills,
where the snow lasts the longest.

You're really inspiring me to do more acrylics with these little gems Rob.

Your paint looks thicker than mine. I'm using Winsor and Newton Finity. Which make are yours?

sorry keith it is oils,i wrote acrylics by mistake...changed it...no wonder they looked thicker!
i hardly take out my acrylics, oils are so much better in any kind of weather...

lol. Well I'm still inspired by these recent paintings, whatever the medium.

I'm also going to try some of the thicker acrylics. Maybe not outdoors in these freezing conditions though!

thats the thing with acrylics,in the cold weather they go funny,in the sun they dry to quick on your palette, inside they are perfect though!

Great subject Rob and interesting story. Farmers in Wales must get quite used to feeling the drafts in this cold weather! Seriously nice painting.

Hello, Rob. Saw your comment on Annie(with the big A) on THE LAZY ARTIST blog and had to look you up. Your oils are so light and bright. I do like the reflections you get on wet streets, the fluffiness of the snow in the last painting, the shadows and lights on all of them, the steam rising from the cows in the barn (I'm running out of breath)--have to check the rest and your other blogs.
