Late light on the Lane

late light on the lane, oil on canvas 8x11"
.
sometimes i like to take nature apart,
and put it back together like i like it...
sometimes i just make a mess.
it's a fine line thing, painting...

it is on the end of the lane just before turning right for Toby's school run.
it had been raining and the sun made one last appearance before it went dark...

That's the mystery of the plein air thing for me - what you just said. People say, don't paint what you know, paint what you see. But sometimes we see the strangest, most wonderful things and colours in nature. I often find I get weirder (and more interesting) results when I paint outside than when I just use photos. Nice one Rob !

i've got the opposite sheila,
my studio paintings are more exciting 'cos i paint what i feel
and don't feel intimidated by the big nature...
