Old Maestro

oil on canvas 7x9"

lucked into this old shed when the light was good this evening...
it housed an old BL Maestro 500 city,
a crap car even when new!
i liked the way the welsh poppies were growing all around it

It looks a lot like an old
Austin Van the cousin one of the Morris minor Van.
So you could say your walking on
thin ice here, .... hehehe

Very moody Rob, love the greenish metal glow of the car.

Love the colours and texture on the van. Subtle colour shifts here are a pleasure. Am I correct in thinking that the highlights on the shed walls are produced by scraping?

The van is spot-on. You've caught that effect of old weathered paintwork.

You have the most amazing way of capturing light - this old van is just lazing in that sunshine!

hehe i had to think of your Austin Van,painting this, rene
wich ofcourse is the best Van in the world!!

yes mick i like a bit of scraping
the result depending on the toned canvas ofcourse...btw i should finish that pole,a bit too sharp!

that was the main attraction keith
something i hadn't tried before.
struggled a bit at first, than scraped it off a bit (mick!)and the underpainting showed the rust...bit lucky there

Agree with Rene, a great moody painting here Rob. Abandoned cars - makes you wonder what sights they saw in their time.

mood is good
yes the older the car,the more character it seems to have...

It's great Rob. I especially love the contrast with your race cars. Like an old work horse out to pasture (or rather stuck in the barn in this case).
Beautiful light.
