happy monday

oil on canvas 7x9"

late light on the hill
this is the edge of the town
painting the evening
has its advantages
the birds singing the day
the yummy shadows
it was a lazy day

That is a very happy painting, it oozes sunshine. The dramatic shadow beneath the tree helps it appear even brighter because of the contrast. I like how you scraped in the light lines on the shadow too. Beautiful!

Your range of values effectively produce a wonderful feeling of the contrasty light that we get at the end of the day on the rare occasions that the sun shines. Lovely.

I really like the beautiful palette that you use, those wonderful pinks and violets. I would love to walk there.

I like the way you painted the fence shadow; it has a lot of character and makes the tree stand out. Nice!
