Good morning that morning. I like the minimal thing about this thing. graet atmosphere. I thought i would like to see the trees with some thicker paint, or more seethrough or something, but looking through my eyelashes (is dat wimpers?) their color is just right really, so i am wrong and you are right. Great depth that is fo sjo!

You've certainly caught the feeling of a winter morning. The rising smoke is a nice touch.

I think this would make a good Christmas card.

It's a pity the temperature isn't a delight to work in as well!

that was what rene said wiele
more contrast in the front tree,i agreed with him, although it is a delicate balance cos that tree can't grab to much attention...
thanks for your insight!

Your colors are perfect-there's no doubt it's a cold winter morning. As always, you have wonderful atmosphere in your paintings.

I just "discovered" you and I love all your paintings...you paint with verve! This one is quite a departure from your others..in a good way. I noticed how things are slanting toward our left..but the hill "rights" it all and the quiet colors are just right.

i take great care of my colors lesley, quite often they perform dual functions... but perfect?
i wish, look at marc hanson for that...but i take your compliment gladly

sylvia,you are so kind!thank you

haha yes celeste, look at all the other works everything slants to the left,i think it is funny and don't mind, although today i went out and the slant was a bit to much!
i'm right handed btw

Beautiful atmosphere in this one, I can feel the chill! The trees frame the houses nicely and the smoke brings my eye right back to them.

Did you paint this en plein air?

yes i braved the cold for this one,
the cold looks worst than it was,i love these crisp fresh mornings...makes you feel alive

You really capture the softness and stillness of a cold winter morning. The atmosphere just takes you in. You said a lot without an edge in sight.

I was missing these winter paintings. This blog would not be the same thing without these clasics of the cold atmosphere.

Good detail that column of smoke.
