Amsterdam

Hallo allemaal!

Just came back from an exhausting but very rewarding trip round Holland,
stayed a few days in my birth town Amsterdam and managed to concentrate on some painting,
as most off you know,Amsterdam has got many distractions, eek!

Where better to begin than the central station...i sat on the floor with my tiny pochade box,for this one, people left me alone, probably thought i was some sort of drop out...can't blame them...

For my next trick,i stood in the middle of the road, the corner of the Ceintuurbaan and Sarphatielaan...many people stopped, even cars, trams and the police...a typical first question for the Dutch is...and do you make a bit off money doing this!?

Believe it or not,i used to cross this road on my way to school on my own when i was just six years old! Can't imagine that nowadays...but back than it was normal.

Next stop Gouda an old little town in the center of Holland where i met up with Rene,a Dutch plein air painter,he is posting his results on his blog right now...

WOW! Rob, I can see that your visit to Amsterdam was inspiring; I think the train station painting is fantastic. If you wanted to make a big studio painting, that's the one I would choose. : )
I know you and Rene had fun!

We DID Leslie, and one other thing, these painting are just horrible, ... online!! In real they are soooo much deeper by tone, and much brighter by color, such a pity that it doesn't show so good.

hi leslie, thanks for the kind words.
amsterdam is an endless inspiration, weather you paint or not.
i took a silly amount of pictures,to do some studio paintings, this way that dutch delight will last even longer...

yes rene, online pictures don't show half the subtleties of the real life painting,we all suffer from that,but...it is still amazing we can show our work around the world.
