Ever tried a rainbow!? it is hard!! especially alla prima,wet in wet.This was a little excercise from a picture i took from the many,many rainbows here in Wales.
Can't imagine doing this plein air,before you're set up,it will be gone...
6x9" oil on panel...when i feel brave enough,i would like to soften the rainbow a bit...

No i've never done that!
Once there was one a few meter away from me after a very hard shower but it has something that i doesnt like to paint i guess.
we see them a lot here,and the contrast in the landscape is stunning...and looking back,i like the contrast and colors in this work
but it is waaaaay to thight!!

I fear the rainbow...but I'll give one a try, here we get double and triple rainbows in spring.

i will try another one too,once i've recovered from this one...
the mistake i did,was not painting it transparent enough,hard to do wet on wet!
